How to Lace a Corset
Starting at the top eyelets of the corset, pass the lace or ribbon through from back to front. Cross over and pass through from back to front again. Repeat this until you reach waist level, where you should pass the lace from front to back through the eyelet immediately underneath to create a loop on each side. Continue lacing as before (or pass lace from front to back instead to mirror the top section) to the final eyelets. Tie laces off securely with a bow or a small knot.
If the ribbon is too long, it can be trimmed to a length best suited to you.
Before putting your garment on loosen the laces at the back so that you can easily fasten the busk at the front. Use the lacing loops at waist level to tighten, also pulling in the laces from top down to waist, and from bottom up to waist. Tie the loops securely in a bow. This can be tucked under the bottom edge of the corset if desired.
Before taking your garment off loosen the laces at the back to prevent damage to the bones.
